Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
If you’re in Ontario and your insurance plan includes coverage for social workers, I can provide you with a receipt that may be eligible for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you qualify.
I've never been diagnosed, can you still work with me?
Yes, as long as I believe I can genuinely help with what you’re going through, I’m happy to work with you.
What kind of therapy do you use?
For bipolar disorder, I firstly use Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT), which is considered the gold standard for treatment. I also integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Metacognitive Therapy, and Existential Therapy, depending on the client’s needs and goals.
What is your rate per session?
My standard rate is $160 per session. However, I offer a generous sliding scale to help make my services accessible. We can discuss options during our consultation to find a rate that works for you.
Can you help me recognize early signs of mania or depression?
Absolutely. A big part of our work together will be identifying your unique early warning signs and developing practical tools to prevent episodes from escalating. Early intervention is key to maintaining stability, and I will guide you through this process.
Do you work with families too?
Yes, if you’d like, I can also work with your family to help them better understand bipolar disorder and how they can support you. Family involvement can be crucial in maintaining stability, and I provide psychoeducation and guidance to help them feel more informed and supportive.
How often are sessions, and how long do they last?
Sessions are 50 minutes long, with up to 10 additional minutes available if needed. We’ll tailor the frequency of our meetings to your needs. Most clients start with weekly sessions, then gradually space them out as stability improves and confidence grows.
